The Fallacies of “MORE!”
In engineering terms, these fallacies create a positive feedback loop, which makes a system cascade out of control. Another term for this is “Death Spiral.”
The addiction fallacy: If a little is good, then a lot will be great!
The legislative fallacy: If a little bit failed, then we must need a lot!
The lack of imagination fallacy: It’s never worked before, but since it’s the only option, we have to try harder!
The two-party fallacy: Their way is bad, so our way must be good!
The tradition fallacy: To solve the problems that we created, we must return to the paths that brought us here!
The communism fallacy: It’s always been disastrous before because they didn’t do it correctly! Also known as The Bullwinkle fallacy: This time for sure!
The regulation fallacy: We can stop businesses from buying political favors by making political favors more valuable to businesses!
The censorship fallacy: People will stop distrusting authority if we imprison them for their wrong opinions!
